29 May – 7 June 2020 | Pre-festival WORKSHOP + FESTIVAL
29th-31th May – Pre-Festival Workshop – lead by Karen Nelson
We are really happy to have with us Karen, dancer, performer, teacher, that was since the very biginning of the form researching about Contact Improvisation. This is a great possibility to study 12 hours with one of the first reasearcher of CI and to dive deep into her dance world.
by Karen Nelson (USA)
Bringing together two unique and related systems—Material for the Spine (MfS) and Tuning Scores—we will dive deep and fast into the slow-time speedless body.
MfS sensations including pointing (the magical action that indicates imagination and physicality intertwined), locating and distinguishing centers of mass: pelvis, rib-shoulder-arm system, and skull, offer a sense of length, reflexive balance and expansion into space.
Tuning Scores, in unison with sensing, particularly physicalizing seeing, partnering with the environment, and calibrating attentional/compositional desire, offers us “single image” medicine— the antidote score to a busy world. The pre-workshop is a sampler slice into these two amazing systems given to us by Steve Paxton and Lisa Nelson, respectively, and mixed by me and you.
